I just finished a great book called The Ark, the Reed, & the Fire Cloud by Jenny L. Cote. It is totallty awesome, it is about all of the animals arriving in the ark. They travel from around the world following the fire cloud to get to the ark.
"Max" and "Liz" are the author's pets in real life. They are also the inspiration for the main characters of the book.
Max carries the reed with him when he finds it. The reed tells him to follow the fire cloud. The voice is God, but he doesn't realize it yet. He meets "Al" a cat from Ireland. He is afraid of nearly everything and loves food. He is also following the fire cloud. He then meets Kate ( who eventually becomes his mate.) He meets Liz in France and then she eventually becomes Al's mate.
There is also a bossy hen and her husband named Henriette and Jacquis. In Spain there is a cow and a bull. Max meets many animal friends along the way. They are all following the fire cloud, but they don't know why. The voice of God has told them to follow it, but they don't realize until the end that is who it is talking to them. All they know is that they are told to follow the cloud.
It is a book about God telling you what to do and the way that others fight you when you follow God's way.
